Stephan and Ingrid are the future of yoga in NYC…They each have the essence of yoga dialed into their body, mind, and heart, and have the skill to communicate it.

—Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee

Stephan W. Kolbert and Ingrid A. Marcroft—spouses, parents, and business partners—opened Upper West Side Yoga and Wellness in 2012 to create a way to live their passion while spending more time together as a family and to serve the community they know, love, and live in.

How was Upper West Side Yoga and Wellness (UWS Yoga) born?

• Dealing with illness

• Looking for a community of like-minded folks (so many friendships have started here!)

…come check us out and use us as a resource for your well-being. We firmly believe that EVERYONE can practice yoga. We’re not here to pass judgment—we’re here to share, collaborate, and explore. Join us!

A couple since 1999, we eventually realized that we really, really loved studying and practicing yoga and were each able to practice it in our own way, according to the needs of our very different bodies but, most importantly, side by side. We dove in deeply, completed all kinds of trainings with some of the best teachers in the world, taught publicly and privately, and one day said: “Hmmm. Should we open a yoga studio in our very own neighborhood?” A dream was born and has now evolved over a whole decade!

No matter the style, our classes are always attuned to the students in the class. Most of our classes are taught in the alignment-based flow/vinyasa style but we also offer Iyengar-style classes (we call them Alignment), Chair classes that are surprisingly vigorous while appropriate for all ages and strength levels, profoundly restful Integrative Restorative classes, Core Strength (Pilates-blend) classes, and all kinds of workshops. We specialize in yoga for seniors to develop and maintain strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, and a sense of confidence in everyday life. Until March of 2020, we also held regular retreats and Kids and Tween/Teen Classes and are hoping to bring them back soon! Our Class Descriptions and Pricing pages provide more details and will help you find your perfect fit. Check out our Schedule and come on by!

We do not offer Hot Yoga, but we build heat from the inside. 😄
